NICHE represents for Knowledge Discovery Through Dominance Relationship Analysis. The concept of "dominance"  is an important concept in skyline computation. In the NICHE project, our aim is to apply the concept of dominance for knowledge discovery.

In the PIPA project, we aim to build a database system for storage and manipulation of interactive media, video, audio, and image data. The interesting research issues we try to solve in this project include

1) efficient indexing techniques for interactive media;

2) storage methodology for smart media objects;

3) novel interface paradigm;

4) effective distance/similarity methods for matching multimedia objects; and

5) efficient query processing.
